As Meagan predicted, I had to look long and hard however my quest made easier by the fact that the photos I would choose (since meeting Chuck in 2001) are all [...] Well, it’s 2010 and we have started it off with a bang – at least as regards our running & training. So far this year (the last five days) we’ve run 18 miles. What are we chasing, you ask? The Paris marathon in April, I respond. Oh, and another race is also looming: the [...] Today marked a really great day in our post-cancer world. Six months after finishing his last chemo treatment, Chuck ran the Healdsburg Half Marathon in 2:48, an awesome time by any measure, but really amazing compared to the last half he survived (you can’t really call it running) last May. Our friends Valeria and [...] Now that the Las Vegas Triathlon is out of the way, we’ve fixed our focus on the next two races: a half marathon next weekend in Healdsburg, and a 50 mile bike ride in Solvang in November. So yesterday we ran 9 1/2 miles and today we hammered out a 40 mile bike ride. [...] In my case, it included swimming 1.5K, biking 40K, then running a 10K at the Las Vegas Triathlon. And let me tell you, it was HOT out there! The triathlon took place in and around Boulder Beach at Lake Mead. The swim started around 7:15am and the temperature was only in the lower [...] <cue theme from Rocky> So here at Chez O’Shea we have been all about the physical fitness/getting in shape thing of late. I’ve been training for an Olympic distance triathlon that is (gulp!) next weekend and Chuck has been struggling to get back in shape post-chemotherapy (they don’t really tell you how long that [...] Chuck and I registered today for the 2010 Paris Marathon that takes place on April 11! Ooh-la-la! It’ll be our first trip to Europe since we ran the Medoc Marathon in 2007. This time we’re going to finish the race, and spend some quality time in the City of Lights. Then we’re planning to [...] millard campground, may 2009 Every May for almost 20 years Chuck has been holding a race in the Angeles National Forest called the El Prieto Handicap (pictures here of previous races). It’s named for the trail that is the toughest part of the course: a mile and a half of steep single track trail [...] We’ve been quite engrossed over the past three weeks watching the Tour de France (and it’s been a great year!). As it’s been broadcast on Versus (not a major network), the advertisements have been, um, intriguing. Who can forget Smiling Bob? And the constant promos for Fanarchy? But along with the dreck they’ve been [...] I just finished uploading some awesome new photos taken by our friend Gerry on Saturday at this year’s El Prieto Handicap race. He caught some great action shots of people running, and he was positioned at a point early enough in the race (at the bottom of the El Prieto Trail) that people still [...] |
