I must have been all of six or seven the first time I went to Disneyland. Over the course of my lifetime, I can no longer count how often I’ve gone. I’ve been on every ride and gone in every store. I even created a little Disneyland opening day history page. But yesterday, we took Chuck’s niece Katie and my friend Cheryl, and had the most unique and wonderful day I can remember, and I learned that I know nothing much about Disneyland! We went on a “Walk in Walt’s Footsteps” tour. It took about four hours, and included a picnic meal in Walt Disney’s apt in New Orleans Square (he planned it and saw it completed but died before living there. It’s now the Gallery). We walked the entire park, and learned so much! It gave us a whole new appreciation for just how magical the Magic Kingdom really is! Our fabulous tour guide, Mary, was an endless font of trivia and information. We now know what we’re going to do when houseguests want to go to Disneyland — we’re taking them on this tour! We also went on the Jungle Cruise ride, the Haunted Mansion, the Tiki Room, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and watched the Fantasmic show (wow!). Here are some pictures we took.
