Whoa! Where Did That Weekend Go?

wildlife.jpgWe had a busy weekend, full of fun stuff. Saturday we went up to Arcadia to the Arboretum for a concert in the park featuring the California Philharmonic. This weekend it was Andrew Lloyd Webber Meets Puccini (hey, I didn’t name the concert!). The symbols for facebook” title=”music symbols for facebook”>music was great – for every Italian aria, there was a hummable/singable Andrew Lloyd Webber tune. Nice mix! This is an ongoing summer series that wraps up in a few weeks, well worth the very reasonable price for grass seating. The idea is that you come an hour or two early, enjoy the view, have a picnic then listen to the symbols for facebook” title=”music symbols for facebook”>music. We went with our friend Kyra and her parents, who were down from the Great White North for a visit. Very nice folks, I think they are always a little blown away by how crowded and busy L.A. is (heck, I’M a little blown away by it). We spent the night up in that neck of the woods, as bright and early Sunday morning we were off to participate in our friends’ Mary & Gerry’s annual Rattlesnake Run. It’s an informal trail run that loops through Griffith Park up near the Hollywood sign. There’s a lot of uphill and downhill, and there are, in fact, rattlesnakes on the trail sometimes (hence the name) as well as the odd mountain lion. Thankfully, the only wildlife we saw were fellow human beings. After a nice sweaty hike it was back to Mary & Gerry’s for fruit and fresh bread. And that was all before noon!

Here are some pics of the weekend. So what’s the deal with a two-day weekend anyway? I need at least another day to recover from all this activity before starting a new week. There should be a law!
