I have a newish cell phone these days. It’s a Sony Ericsson T637. I switched from Verizon to AT&T Wireless, as the cell service for Verizon, at least in the places I frequented, was pretty lousy. AT&T Wireless is great service-wise, at least so far (and it’s fun to watch the phone randomly switch from AT&T Wireless to Cingular, seemingly at will). The new phone and a new number accompanied the switch. This little phone has bluetooth, which I was very interested in so it can talk to my Mac, among other things. It also has a digital camera – which leads me to the point of this posting. We were at Stats a couple of weeks agoi buying Xmas decorations, and the place was quite glorious, with amazing store displays. Sadly, the only camera I had with me to immortalize the whole thing was, you guessed it, the little Sony Ericcson. So I whipped it out and began shooting. It took me a while to get around to beaming the images via bluetooth to my computer to see the fabulous results. So here you go (each has the full size version linked to it):
Somehow, these just don’t quite capture the moment. I mean, that nutcracker was awesome – easily 8 feet tall (think of the size of the nuts it can crack!!)! The max resolution for images on this camera phone is 480 x 640 pixels, which doesn’t make me want to abandon my Canon PowerShot any time soon. Really, I’m not kididng, the displays at Stats were very cool. This takes me back to my kidhood, when I was 10 or 11 learning to take pictures with my Instamatic camera. I’d look up in the sky and see clouds and birds and snap happily away, trying to capture how pretty the day was. And of course, I could never do it. I’d spend my money getting the pics developed and always be disappointed. *sigh* I guess for my next phone I should upgrade to the Samsung SCH-S250 (trust Samsung to come up with the really sexy names!). Ain’t technology grand?
