Phew! It’s Thursday and I’m suffering from Macworld burnout! I started this morning off right with a feature presentation – Wil Wheaton did a couple of readings from his book Just a Geek and generally kept us all entertained for more than an hour with tales of his long love affair with Macs. I’ve read his blog, and now want to read his books. After that, it was off to a class on the Palm Desktop and OS X. Then Chuck and I spent several hours canvassing the exhibits and checking out all the goodies. After exhausting the Expo, we bopped over to the Apple Store (happily all of one block from our hotel) – where they had just received a shipment of the 1GB iPod shuffles. It was mayhem – and I suffered a huge case of deja vu. When I hustled over after the keynote Tuesday morning there were huge lines as well – but then it was for the 512MB shuffle (they couldn’t seem to get both flavors in the store at the same time, oh well). Happily, no sooner did we get in line today than they announced they were all out of iPod shuffles, and the line disappeared right before our very eyes. So Chuck was able to move right up to the counter and buy his very first iPod – a 20GB. Our family of iPods is now quite large: we have a 6GB first generation iPod, a 40GB second generation iPod, a green iPod mini, a 20GB third generation iPod, and a 512MB iPod shuffle. We should own Apple stock at this rate. Pics of the whole shebang are here. And here’s a Quicktime movie (4.8MB).
