Well, the official start of four more years of Dubya kicks off on January 20 with the swearing in (some of us will just be swearing, but enough of that). To celebrate the event, those jokesters at JibJab have created a new movie. Check it out! For those who like their inauguration straight up, here’s the official site. And for those who are asking, “Hey, what’s this big old bash going to cost?” the answer is $40 million. To be fair, most of that money comes from private donations. But what else could you do with that kind of cash? Well, let’s see:
- 200 armored Humvees with the best armor for troops in Iraq.
- Vaccinations and preventive health care for 22 million children in regions devastated by the tsunami.
- A down payment on the nation’s deficit, which hit a record-breaking $412 billion last year.
- Two years’ salary for the Mets’ new center fielder Carlos Beltran, or all of pitcher Randy Johnson’s contract extension with the New York Yankees.
*sigh*
