Video iPods rock!

video_ipod.jpgWell, mine certainly does! The size is fabulous – about half as thick as the previous 60GB iPod Photo. It’s lighter, too, at 5.5 ounces. The video is amazing. I downloaded some symbols for facebook” title=”music symbols for facebook”>music videos (the selection at the Apple Store is fair – a lot of Michael Jackson, U2, and 80’s symbols for facebook” title=”music symbols for facebook”>music videos, but it’s missing a lot of classics. Early days yet, I guess), and a couple of episodes of the new Night Stalker series (managed to miss all of them on TV so far). The battery life has been excellent. I flew home from Oakland (a one hour flight), and watched a Night Stalker episode and the battery was still close to full when we landed (yes, I turned it off when the flight attendants told us to). Video clarity is breathtaking. The screen has a fair amount of reflection – it’s quite shiny and in a bright situation it can be hard to see the screen, and it has no plug for an iTalk microphone (I was pretty unimpressed by the quality of the iTalk recordings so don’t consider this a great loss). Interesting – you can only connect it to a computer with a USB 2.0 cable – firewire cables don’t work with this one.

My overall grade: A! My symbols for facebook” title=”music symbols for facebook”>music video purchases so far: U2’s Where the Streets have No Name, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, Vertigo; Sheryl Crow, The First Cut is the Deepest; Wang Chung’s Everybody Have Fun Tonight; Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice, and Five for Fighting’s 100 Years.
