This past Saturday was our first ever Good Shit Wine Party. We came up with the idea for this party after our recent trip to the Sonoma Valley where we bought a whole lot of really good shit wine. So much, in fact, that we filled our new wine refrigerator.
So to cut down on our surplus we invited a bunch of friends and neighbors over to imbibe and enjoy. Much drinking and eating of appetizers ensued. Chuck shared our most expensive bottle of wine (a Silver Oak cabernet) with a select few who deemed themselves sophisticated enough to properly enjoy it. A few folks who shall remain nameless had some trouble negotiating the front door when leaving (don’t worry, they didn’t drive – well, except for one person who slipped through our drunk detection monitoring system near the door – my niece the ex-bartender – but she made it home okay and didn’t get arrested or pulled over so all’s well that ends well).
In addition to a people party, we had a dog party. Mia had three friends over: Paris, a two-year-old lab-golden mix, Becky, a three month old lab-golden mix (and CCI puppy in training), and Rocky, a six-year-old Autstralian Shepherd. Paris likes our pond a lot and especially likes to swim in it. Then she likes to get out and shake water all over everyone. becky followed her in, only to discover that it was a) wet and b) deeper than she expected. She didn’t get in again. The dogs all enjoyed themselves and were excellent floor cleaners.
By 9:00PM most folks had left as we are all getting too old to drink to excess (really just stay up, in truth) then stay awake past 8PM. Partay people!!!
