I forgot to mention in my last post that Apple also announced Apple TV yesterday. I ordered one last night (they are coming in February). We’re not sure what we’re going to do with it, but in preparation, I bought the entire season of Heroes from iTunes. We can then hook up the Apple TV to our 58″ plasma TV via HDMI cable, and transmit episodes of Heroes to the big screen TV from the computer at 802.11n speed. In high def widescreen glory. Cool!
They did something else that they didn’t talk about but I knew they would do when they said that Apple TV uses 802.11n – they are releasing an all new base station that has a low profile, four three 10/100 ports, and 802.11n speed! Awesome! I also ordered one of those (to be released in February as well).
Now the big question I have: will the iPhone be it for full screen iPods, or will Apple release a non-wired version for folks who just want widescreen iPods? Stay tuned – the iPhone won’t be available for purchase until June. *sigh*
