The one where having had two glasses of wine I wax eloquent on nothing in particular

We are wrapping up our week on the road in Paso Robles. We’re staying at the Paso Robles Inn. I chose the place sight unseen as the description sounded nice. Yay! After the San Francisco hotel room fiasco I was a wee bit gun shy, but this time I chose well. We got here about 5pm after spending the day with my aunt in Watsonville (a wild and crazy place if ever there was one 😉 and spent an hour or so in our room trying to turn on the gas fireplace and reading about the history of Paso Robles (okay, and I read more crap about the iPhone- apparently I can’t read enough crap about the iPhone). We were pretty tired and hungry by 6pm, so headed over to the Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse for dinner. We had a glass of wine for starters, and that’s where things headed downhill for me. I knew I was in trouble when we stoood up to leave the bar and the exit was a big blur to me. I made Chuck go first on the theory that as a large object he’d be easy to follow. My theory worked and I made it to the restaurant without falling down (yay me!), and we had a very nice dinner accompanied by another glass of wine (uh-oh!). Chuck had roast beast, and I had pasta with veggies. Mmmm… The folks next to us had Bananas Foster for dessert which was a lot of fun to watch getting made (it took them two tries to get it right). We didn’t indulge and I made it back to the room without falling down or anything so now we’re surfing the net and making plans for tomorrow’s adventures.

We’re heading home tomorrow by way of Malibu (oh, and a few Paso Robles area wineries). Max the MINI has been great on his first road trip and has been fawned over and generally adored eveywhere we’ve taken him. This morning he experienced his first bout of ice and handled it with great aplomb. Gas mlieage has been averaging about 28-30 MPG. All in all, it’s been a two thumbs up trip for young Max.

I’m glad to be heading home at last. I’d be even happier if I had an iPhone, but so it goes.
