Another day, another MacWorld

Well, MacWorld 2008 drew to a close today. We spent a busy past few days overloading on all things Apple. Oh, and I fell utterly in love with the new MacBook Air. It is soooo pretty and light! We got to touch it and hold it, and it really is pretty fast. I can’t say how hot it gets (a common failing in the early MacBook Pros) – the ones they had out on the floor certainly didn’t seem all that warm to the touch so maybe they have dealt with that problem (with some of those early MacBook Pros you could quite literally burn yourself if you kept the laptop on your lap too long!). I’m still wondering if the solid state drive is worth $1200 add-on to the price of the MacBook Air, so I think I’ll wait for some reviews before ordering one. The only thing we pre-ordered was Time Capsule – that was too cool to pass up!

Other than the awesome MacBook Air, the biggie for me was Microsoft Office 2008 – it is really a HUGE step in the right direction from Office 2004. It launches and runs fast on Intel machines (yay!), and looks good. They’ve incorporated some look and feel elements from Office 2007 for Windows (the good things), and the two products are now completely compatible. I also was happy to hear Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac will be out at the end of March.

We’re heading home tomorrow, and I know I’ll be daydreaming about MacBook Air laptops the whole way.
