More travels with Charlie

Chuck’s adventure continues. I’m sort of sorry I’m not with him as he is really having a lot of fun. Well, except for the rain and the getting lost and going in circles. My butt isn’t at all interested however, and reminds me that it would be very sore if it were on the motorcycle. I’ll be joining him on Thursday so he has one more day of carefree bachelor life. In the meantime, here’s his update:

bootMy Big Adventure Day 2. Well not nearly as much to say about todays ride. Did NOT get lost and ignored the nav system till I got around Phoenix AZ. Speaking of Phoenix us LA’rs don’t have anything on Phoenix and traffic jams. (OK we have a lot more of them) But getting around the city took a while.

Unlike day 1 I was only in the saddle from 6:30 to 2 today and took breaks and got gas every hundred miles. The other big difference (OK not getting lost was really big) was the scenery, really beautiful. Went through some low mountains (got up to about 7,000 feet) and the roads where a winding, just enough to have fun on the bike. The canyons were very pretty too.

I’m now in Springerville, AZ. Not much to do here. Had a late lunch and think I’ll have an early dinner and see if their wine selection is any better than the Golden Nugget in Wickenburg.

Ah, one more thing. My riding boots. The soles are falling off. I mean like they are just falling off. This is the second time. They are Eccos and I had them resoled once for the very same reason. This time after I get to Albuquerque I’m tossing these and getting a new pair.

Also, very little rain today – in fact only a couple of sprinkles.
