Switzerland, part one
After we bade a fond farewell to Slovenia at the charming Ljubljana airport, we flew to Zurich by way of Paris. And in Paris we bid adieu to my sister and brother-in-law who were heading home to Pittsburgh via Reykjavik (you’d never guess, I bet, they flew Wow Airlines). I always hate to say goodbye

Another day, another country
We left Hungary and drove to Croatia, stopping at the border for passport inspection. It turns out Croatia, while sort of part of the EU, is not a full member and is not part of the Schengen Zone so its borders with neighboring EU countries like Hungary (which is higher up the EU food chain) are

Three days in Hungary
We spent a long day in the bus getting from Poland to Hungary. Our bus breakdown set us back a few hours so we didn’t reach Eger, Hungary until around 10pm so after grabbing a quick bite at a very nice restaurant which we were all too tired to really appreciate everyone headed to their

We left Krakow and started our journey to Hungary. We were supposed to hit the road bright and early but (dun dun DUN) our bus had a mechanical problem (a belt failed) which delayed us a good 90 minutes. This in turn messed up our reservations at Auschwitz-Birkenau so the whole day was a bit

Editor’s note: Yes, I know I’m behind with my posts. I blame Budapest. The hotel wifi we have here gives “spotty” a new name… We drove in the bus from Prague to Krakow by way of a charming town in Czechia called Stramberk and had time for lunch and a climb to see the Castle
