True Confessions OR Guilt and Blogs

hardwoodpre.jpgBless me father, for I have sinned. It’s been almost a week since my last confession. I haven’t updated the blankety-blank blog this week and am now consumed with guilt about it. Don’t get me wrong: it’s not that our lives are a big zero (well, sometimes maybe they are); quite the opposite, life has been zipping along, in fact that may be the problem – it’s been zipping along too fast. I’m taking a vanpool to work these days (as I continue to explore all possible transportation options So Cal has to offer, and once you get out of your car, let me tell you, the options dwindle pretty darned fast. I tried the Blue Line, however I could almost run to work faster than it got me there…but I digress) so am getting up really early, then spending all day at work (violins here, please, and imagine me sniffing pathetically) and by the time I get home, well, I’m too pooped to be creative, at least as regards the blog. So enough excuses. What’s new? Well, we are planning more improvements to the money pit. We are putting in hardwood floors now, in two rooms and the hallway. To be exact, engineered hardwood (good news, as regular hardwood has to age for a couple of weeks before being laid, which would mean a whole lot of wood sitting around the house). We’re doing this ourselves – well, let me clarify that – Chuck is doing it himself. As I swore the last time we embarked on do-it-yourself home improvement, I am leaving the house for the duration. Chuck gets to have all the fun of cutting and laying the floor, worse luck for me (hah!!!). We are currently swearing that this is the last indoor project we are undertaking for…well, a couple of months for sure. The yard has been neglected for a while so it’s time to turn our attention to issues like our out of control rubber tree (it grows like a weed and sheds copious amounts of leaves all over the yard and in the pond) and half dead lawn (it drowned during a brief but tragic period when the pond sprang a leak).
